Platform
What is MedSearchr?

MedShelter is a free platform built for high school, college, and medical students pursuing healthcare or medicine. It brings together research opportunities, AP course guidance, mentor connections, a research hub with templates, and study tools - all in one place.

Is MedSearchr free?

Yes, MedSearchr is completely free to use at this moment.

Who is MedSearchr for?

Primarily high school students who are interested in healthcare, medicine, research, or pre-med pathways. That said, college and medical students are welcome too. A lot of the resources (templates, opportunity listings, mentor connections) are useful at any stage.

What can I actually do on MedSearchr?

Here are just SOME of the things you can do on MedSearchr:

  • Browse and save research opportunities, internships, and programs
  • Connect with mentors in the Mentor Database
  • Access research formatting templates, cold email drafts, and research guides in the Research Hub
  • Join or submit active research projects
  • View AP course guidance and tools for science subjects
  • Use the Study Playlists page with a built-in session timer
  • Publish and explore projects in the Research Gallery
Can MedSearchr be accessed on the phone?

What is the difference between MedSearchr and MedShelter?

MedShelter is the organization that made MedSearchr, which is simply the web platform itself.

Where can I find study playlists to listen to?

You can find study playlists of a variety of music genres in our Study Playlists page. Available on this page is also a timer for your study sessions, which will ping you once the desired time period is over.

Opportunities
What kinds of opportunities are listed on MedSearchr?

You can find a wide range of opportunities, including research programs, internships, volunteering, shadowing, competitions, labs, and much more related to medicine and STEM.

New opportunities are added regularly, so check back often and save the ones you want to apply to.

Can I filter opportunities by my requirements?

Yes, you can filter opportunities based on various requirements such as location, age, education level, citizenship, and much more.

How do I save opportunities?

You can browse opportunities directly from the opportunities page and use the details view to review deadlines, links, and application info.

Are the opportunities themselves free to apply to?

Most are free to apply to, and many even offer stipends or scholarships. Some programs may have tuition or application fees - we note those where we can. MedShelter itself charges nothing; we're just the directory for these opportunities.

How often are opportunities updated?

We update the opportunity listings regularly every week. That said, always double-check opportunities for the most current deadlines — programs occasionally shift their dates without notice.

I'm in the early phases of my passion project. How can I get help through MedSearchr?

You can post your passion project idea in the Passion Projects page of our site. There, you can connect with other students who share similar interests and find students to fill in the roles needed for your idea to become a reality.
